Receiving 92 points from James Halliday, our Reserve Shiraz comes from selected hand picked fruit on the Wood Park vineyard. The blackberry and plum characters gently balance the tannins that linger on the back of the palette. This wine a must for the home cellar.
The Shiraz vines are pruned to produce a low yield to aid full ripening and flavour development. The fruit is crushed and fermented with regular hand plunging to extract the full flavours and rich colour.
It has had an extended oak maturation for 20 months in carefully chosen French Oak barrels which has added to it’s depth and complexity.
Lightly crushed fruit, initial fermentation with wild yeast, finished with inoculated yeast, mlf, matured in French Burgundy barriques. Lifted aromas of the countryside, of pepper, briar, bay leaf, and earth mixing with the blackberry spice. Supple structure with ripe tannins. Dark plum and regional mint make for a distinctive palate. Will age long term.
